Hoots, Howls, and Hollers 06/08/2009

Here’s a further update on the future relocation of Liberty Wildlife to new “digs” for us and the creatures we care for.  In the last blog I mentioned that the plans for our facility are in the approval process by the Zoo and after that decision is reached, the project will move on to the City of Phoenix Parks Board for their approval.  Then we will be applying for the regular building permits.  Our plans have been complete for some time now, and we are in a waiting game.

Beyond this there have been other developments that I want to share with you.

First of all, we are aware that  the process has and will be taking an inordinate amount of time.  Secondly, we now have some concerns that totally fulfilling our mission might possibly not be doable at the Papago Park location and that in the long term we may not be able to actualize the growth of our programs that we all work so hard for.

With these concerns in mind the Liberty Wildlife Board of Directors has authorized us to launch a search for other sites as an option.  While no final decision has been reached we will keep you informed of our progress.  For those of you who have generously donated to this move and to those of you who work with us daily, please be assured that we are doing everything possible to expedite our relocation, to complete the task that you have entrusted us with, and to provide the badly needed space and opportunities for growth that we so desperately need and look forward to.

So I ask you to keep the faith, share the spirit, and stay tuned.
